Greece 2022 trip - Rethymno

On this day we took the bus from Chania to Rethymno. This was a bit of backtracking (Rethymno lies between Heraklion and Chania), but we did not finalize this small portion of our itinerary until the last minute. Regardless, the bus ride along the Crete coast was actually very nice and enjoyable.

Of course, Rethymno has it old town too, with it own charm.

But the best part about Rethymno is the Venetian Fortress (Fortezza) sitting on top of a cliff, commanding magnificent views.

We strolled in town some more after coming down from the fortezza. Rethymno has a distinct Venetian signature too, such as what the Rimondi Fountain attests.
